Cape Point day passes
A day pass is the SANParks conservation fee for the Cape Point section of Table Mountain National Park — the Cape of Good Hope, at the tip of the peninsula. Use the answers below to help customers at the till.
What does the pass cover?
Gate entry to the Cape Point / Cape of Good Hope section for the chosen day of visit. It does not cover the Flying Dutchman Funicular or any paid activities inside the park.
Are there different rates?
Yes — three categories: South African citizens & residents, SADC nationals, and international visitors. Each pays a different conservation fee.
What must the customer show to get the local or SADC rate?
SA visitors must present a valid SA ID, driver's licence or passport at the gate. SADC nationals must show a passport from an SADC country. Without valid ID, the standard (international) rate applies.
What are the age bands?
Adult is 12 years and older. Child is 2 to 11 years. Infants under 2 enter free.
How do they pay at the gate?
Cape Point gate is card only — no cash. One payment is taken per vehicle on arrival, not per person.
What about Wild Card or My Green Card holders?
They enter without paying the daily fee. They must present their membership letter (printed or on a phone) at the gate — the old plastic Wild Cards are no longer accepted.
Does the pass include activities?
No. Fishing, cycling, dog walking and similar activities need separate permits, bought on their own.
Can the SA rate be claimed after entry?
No. If the SA rate isn't claimed and shown at the gate, no refund is given afterwards. Advise customers to have ID ready before they reach the gate.
Based on SANParks daily conservation fees for the Cape Point section. Rules and fees are set by SANParks and are subject to change — check current SANParks rates if a customer queries a specific amount.
